Imagine This:
You are told you are insane and unstable by everybody you meet.
Your parents don’t care about your mental health, and all they care about is you upholding their family name.
You are forced to watch as another man drugs, kidnaps, photographs, kills and possibly assaults girls that you know.
You are forced to take pills that you are not comfortable in taking.
You have seen something you cannot explain and are called crazy whenever you try to explain it.
Everybody is afraid of you.
You feel as if you are overweight.
The same man who drugs girls is planning to do the same to the one girl who cared for you and listens to you.
Now, how do you feel?
Probably pretty shitty, right?

I find so funny to think about if Max and Victoria met each other at Seattle. I mean, they’re both into photography so much but they’re not from the same social status, so Victoria would likely go to exclusive or VIP events while Max would go to free or open to the public events. However, they’d end up meeting each other somehow. Their passion for photography wouldn’t stop them from going to a place that has important or relevant art. Of course money would make it difficult for Max and not to Victoria, but what I’m trying to say is that in the end it doesn’t matter. They follow their passion wherever it goes.
Outside Arcadia Bay, Victoria and Max would be best friends if situations were favorable for them. Apparently, Victoria doesn’t care all that much about social status when it comes to friendship, she cares only about being more than she can be and being acknowledged. Max would be the kind of friend that’d acknowledge Victoria and vice versa.
When Victoria isn’t trying to be someone she’s not, when she has her walls down, she is the exact kind of person Max would befriend. In the same way, when Max isn’t trying to help everyone, when she’s not trying to show everyone she’s capable, she’s someone Victoria would like to have around. They fit each other perfectly, to think of it. On one hand, Victoria wants to be acknowledged and respected, on the other hand, Max wants to be there for everyone, to make everyone help when no one seems able to do that for her (in the sense of showing and being there, not just saying “I’m here for you”, “Whenever you want to, you can talk to me”. Some may say Warren and Chloe do this, but I honestly beg to differ). With that, they fit. One badly wants a shoulder to cry on, the other does it freely. One wants attention, the other gives it freely. One badly needs understanding, the other understands perfectly. One needs someone to rely on, the other relies on everyone but herself.
You see, it doesn’t matter the scenario - friendship, partnership, rivalry, you name it -, Victoria and Max truly fit each other well enough. They could be anything, anywhere, it only depends on themselves to see it. It’s ironic, to me at least, that they also live in opposite rooms, in front of each other. Inside, they’re more alike than they think.
